Dr. Eric Newhart grew up in the Northern Virginia area, attending W.T. Woodson High School and earning his undergraduate degree in Business Management from George Mason University. After working in the information technology sector for 8 years, Dr. Newhart decided to return to school to study veterinary medicine. Dr. Newhart graduated from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech in 2008 and has been practicing veterinary medicine in Northern Virginia ever since. His veterinary interests include preventative care, internal medicine, geriatric care, and soft-tissue surgery.
After graduation, Dr. Newhart worked for both large and small sized veterinary practices in Northern Virginia and he has provided at home veterinary care for many families and their pets throughout the area. Over the years, he has had many clients inquire about and request at home care for their beloved family pets. He recognized the value and importance of this service, not just for families but also for their animal companions. Driving to the veterinary clinic is stressful for both people and their pets and veterinary medicine performed at in the home is more comfortable and less stressful for everyone involved. So in August of 2016, with the belief that high quality veterinary medicine could be provided in a more relaxing atmosphere, Dr. Newhart opened Vet In A Box, a mobile veterinary service. His goal is to help you keep your pets happy and healthy.
Dr. Newhart lives in Reston, Virginia with his partner Kathy and their ever changing menagerie of cats and and dogs. When he is not doing veterinary medicine, Dr. Newhart enjoys fishing, kayaking, hiking, running, traveling, and craft beer.
